British Cycling has today confirmed three riders who will represent the Great Britain Cycling Team in the 2014 UCI BMX World Championships taking place from 23-27 July 2014 in Rotterdam.

World champion Liam Phillips leads the national team and will be looking to defend the rainbow jersey having enjoyed a strong season so far.

Phillips is currently top of the UCI rankings and took podium positions in both the time-trial and supercross events at the Manchester and Papendal rounds of the world cup.

Liam is joined by academy riders Kyle Evans and Charlotte Green both of whom have made the finals at World Cup level this year.

British Cycling’s technical director Shane Sutton said: “The BMX squad has really stepped up this year, and that’s been helped by having a rider who is the best in the world on the team.

"As well as the results we’ve seen from Liam so far this year, it’s been great to see Kyle making world cup finals at Manchester and Berlin at such a young age, and equally the same for Charlotte who made the finals in Manchester before picking up a slight injury.

"I’m looking forward to seeing what the team can do this year at the worlds.”

In addition to the riders selected above, British Cycling will also be offering ‘quota places’ to certain riders, giving them the opportunity to represent Great Britain at the world championships. These riders will be notified in due course.
