Prostate Cancer UK is urging people to saddle up for its second Jurassic Classic cycling event. Following on from the success of the rides last year, which raised over £110,000, the event will return to Exmouth in the South West on Sunday, August 11.
The Jurassic Classic now offers cyclists an option of three routes. Cyclists can choose between the new 50km route, as well as 100km and 100 mile rides which span the picturesque Jurassic coastline in East Devon. All three routes will include some challenging climbs and well-deserved descents to get cyclists into gear. The cycle ride starts and finishes at Exmouth Rugby Club, Imperial Recreation Ground, Exmouth, Devon.
Riders on the 50km challenge will pedal through several Devon towns and villages, including Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh, Ottery St Mary and over Woodbury Common. Entrants to the 100km ride will cycle through Budleigh Salterton and Otterton, before heading into Sidmouth. Cyclists will then ride through the villages of Sidford, Sidbury, Honiton and the Otter Vale before reaching Woodbury Common, and heading back to the finish in Exmouth. Cyclists taking on the 100 mile ride will experience the first-class views from Peak Hill,Seaton, Lyme Regis and Charmouth. From here they will ride through stunning countryside via Axminster then across Woodbury Common before freewheeling back into Exmouth for the finish.

“We are extremely excited to announce the date of the charity’s second Jurassic Classic cycling event. We have built on last year’s event by adding an extra route for those who wish to cycle a shorter distance, and we aim to ensure the day is even more successful than it was in 2012.
“The routes are designed to fulfil the needs of those with varying amounts of cycling experience. We hope riders will enjoy the stunning scenery along the Jurassic Coastline and finish up at Exmouth Rugby Club to celebrate with their supporters.
“Every year over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. With one man dying every hour from the disease we are urging people to sign up and help Prostate Cancer UK support men, provide vital information and find answers by funding research.”
The event will be fully signed, with well-stocked food stations along the route, and a medal awarded at the end. Timing chips will also be provided. Families, friends and supporters are also welcome to join in on the day, with a variety of entertainment, events and activities planned.

The 100 mile and 100 km distances cost £28 to take part in, with the 100 mile route starting from 7am, the 100km from 8am. The 50km costs £18 and riders will be set off from 9am.
