Event:11 May 2013
In just two weeks the first mountain bike marathon for women in Britain will take place in mid-Wales.
In response to demands for women’s specific biking events here is a non competitive mountain bike event for women. Daisy Chain Events are designed to be fun and accessible for all women who ride a mountain bike.
The first event, on 11 May, offers a choice of 20Km or 40Km routes all off-road in fabulous Welsh countryside. And the courses are designed with all abilities in mind, with non-technical diversions for the novice rider.
A spokesperson for John Lloyd Racing Events, who are organising the series said that “The event will bring many like minded ladies together to have some fun on their bikes, followed by a bit of spoiling and of course tea and homemade cake! Many of the entrants have booked into the campsite at the venue for the whole weekend. We are so excited about this new venture and look forward to welcoming women to their first event, as well as regular event goers to their first women only mountain bike event”
The Daisy Chain is based at Fforest Fields Campsite near Builth Wells in Mid Wales, a 5* campsite with superb facilities. There will be a wide range of additional activities to entertain entrants and their families; these include massage and pampering, bouncy castle and face painting, Contessa demo bikes from Scott Sports UK, skills sessions from Mountain Bike Wales, and lots of stalls with cycling related products from our sponsors.
You may also choose to use the event to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer, our charity partner. Some of their team will be on hand at the event to support their fundraisers and also spread the word about the symptoms of this overlooked disease.
