We are excited to announce the results of the second round of our KALAS design your dream jersey competition, which was full of brilliant entries. British Cycling members aged 16 and under were asked to design their dream cycling jerseys, to be brought to life by custom cycling apparel experts, KALAS.
The competition was part of an exciting young member pack for 2017, offering cycling fans under 17 an opportunity to get creative and design a jersey with the prospect of it being turned into a completely original piece of kit.
The judging panel had a hard time deciding on a top 10, where members sent in a huge variety of designs across all cycling disciplines and featuring every colour under the rainbow.
The top 10
These jerseys stood out as being the best across all age groups, but it was incredibly difficult to choose! Which would you go for?
When it came to choosing a winner and three runners-up, we had some fantastic insight from the design team at KALAS. Together we decided upon the winning jersey, which will soon be taking shape in the KALAS factory! Each of the runners-up will receive a Great Britain Cycling Team jersey.
The winners
First place
Edie, age 10
Edie’s colourful design really appealed to all of the judges with its bright and happy look and a message that any cyclist can relate to. The rainbow is also a really clever feature, reflecting the rainbow stripes that would be won by a world champion but showing this as part of a sunny day – which of course is every cyclist’s perfect weather forecast (except for cyclo-cross perhaps).
Runners-up
Congratulations to Elizabeth, Dylan and Rebecca for your excellent designs. The judges were amazed by just how different the jerseys were and how the spirit of cycling had been included.
Elizabeth, age 12
Dylan, age 9
Rebecca, age 11
