As part of its continued drive to close the gender gap in cycling, British Cycling has launched Ignite Monthly – a new space for women, girls and coaches to connect, share and learn.

The first 90-minute virtual session with Northumbria University’s Kelly McNulty has attracted more than 300 registrations to date and will cover the menstrual cycle and female athletic performance.

Ignite Monthly – which draws influence from the soon-to-be relaunched mentoring programme Ignite Your Coaching – was created as a direct response to British Cycling’s Coaching Conversations webinar in December 2020, and will seek to develop tactics that can support more women and girls in the sport and reduce dropout through raising awareness about key areas related to coaching women and girls.

A new space on Facebook, the British Cycling Coaches Network, will allow the conversation to continue post-webinar and support the ongoing development of coaches of women & girls.

Registration is required for all sessions. To express interest in speaking at Ignite Monthly or ask questions, please email education@britishcycling.org.uk.
