British mountain bikers Cam Mason, Cam Orr and Annie Last took to the start line under difficult weather conditions to compete in the 2023 UEC Mountainbike European Championships in Krakow, Poland.
Poor weather in the days leading up to the race gave riders atough run on an already complicated circuit, meaning Last did not manage to complete the course in the women’s race.
In the men’s race, following a very fast start, Orr suffered a crash on the first lap, which put him in a difficult position to get back into contention and following a valiant effort, finished 17th overall.
Great Britain teammate Mason worked hard on the brand new course, that was arguably suited to his abilities, with many technical features including punchy corners, drops and a zig zag incline.
The young rider put in an epic ride, just missing the top 10 with a 12th place finish overall.
These three riders joined 170 Team GB athletes competing across 18 Olympic disciplines in and around the Polish city, as part of the 2023 European Games.
