Following discussions with the event organiser and Redcar and Cleveland Council, the East Cleveland Classic will now be rescheduled to a new date in spring 2024. This means that this year’s National Road Series will conclude with the Beaumont Trophy and Curlew Cup in Northumberland this weekend.

The East Cleveland Classic was due to take place on Sunday 1 October, after being added to the National Road Series calendar in March of this year. The race will build on the success of this year’s National Road Championships, and the popular East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix, which was last held in 2019.

The event was added to the calendar to provide an additional racing opportunity, however the decision has been taken to reschedule the event to a new slot in the calendar which will be better suited to teams and riders.

We’re thankful for the ongoing support of Redcar and Cleveland Council for the race, and look forward to working together to deliver another successful race next year.

Last month we announced details of a new Elite Road Racing Task Force to spearhead our work to energise and innovate the domestic scene. After meeting for the first time last week, the task force is quickly progressing its work to provide recommendations for the organisation to implement in the future.
