British Cycling - Governing Body For Cycling
Based at Manchester's National Cycling Centre, British Cycling is the representative body for all cyclists in Great Britain.
Goals & Strategy
British Cycling's current strategy is outlined in the "Whole Sport Plan". The ambition of increasing membership to 100,000 in 2013 sits alongside broader goals of inspiring participation in cycling as sport, recreation and sustainable transport through achieving worldwide success in cycle sport.
What is British Cycling Doing For You?
British Cycling's growing membership helps add weight to the organisation's influence, both in corridors of Westminster and in the wider sporting environment. Every extra member gives us more clout as we pursue campaigns, such as "Keep racing on the Roads" and build ground-breaking relationships with bodies such as the Forestry Commission and Sky. The international success of the GB Team and Sky Pro Team also enhance British Cycling's influence, helping us to secure funding for projects such as facilities and club development. It all helps us to defend and enhance cycling's position in society.
Membership
British Cycling membership provides support and benefits to all levels of cyclists. Members enjoy discounts from top cycle retailers plus legal support and insurance. In addition, by joining British Cycling, you are actively supporting all the work we do, helping us to invest in cycling facilities across the UK, supporting the future of on and off road cycling through our work with the Forestry Commission and Central Government plus govern the development of cycle sport in the UK, right up to elite level.
