Great Britain finished 10th in the team relay at the UEC MTB Cross-country Championships in St.Wendel, Germany on Friday.
In the opening event of the competition for British riders, Paul Oldham, Dylan Kerfoot-Robson, Alice Barnes and Iain Paton completed the race in one hour, 13 minutes and 55 seconds.
France were crowned champions - three minutes and 54 seconds faster than the British quartet - with Germany second and Italy third.
Paul Oldham, who will race in the elite men’s race on Sunday, set a time of 17:27.06 seconds for the opening lap on the 6.84-kilometre course to leave Great Britain in eighth.
Junior Dylan Kerfoot-Robson followed, his lap time 17:59.34 keeping Britain in touching distance of the top five.
Alice Barnes, in her debut season as an under-23 athlete, was next out and completed her segment in 20:51.65 before under-23 men’s rider Iain Paton completed the race with a lap in 17:37.37.
The championships continue tomorrow with the under 23 and junior races.
