Thomas Mein won the under-23 men’s race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup series in Tabor, Czech Republic, over the weekend.

Mein rode a smart race, remaining calm and patient throughout and timing his attack perfectly to win with a comfortable margin. Team mate Cameron Mason finished in seventh place and Ben Turner withdrew from the race due to illness.

In the elite men’s race, 20-year-old Tom Pidcock put out a good ride on a physically hard course to finish in 14^th place against a world-class field, while in the elite women’s race, the newly crowned under-23 European champion Anna Kay finished in seventh place.

Millie Couzens had a great start in the elite women’s race, moving up the field in the first straight which put her up against the reigning world champion Sanne Cant. Couzens paid for her efforts later in the race and finished in 25^th place, but her start gave her confidence in her abilities and marks a big step forwards in the 16-year-olds development. Josie Nelson finished in 37^th place and Katie Scott in 47^th.

In the junior men’s race, Rory McGuire finished in 15^th place, Corran Carrick-Anderson in 25^th place and Simon Wyllie in 29^th.

The Great Britain Cycling Team will be back in action at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup series in Koksijde, Belgium on the 24^th November.
