Cyclefest leads Mobility Roadshow Sports Agenda
Posted: 15th June 2010
New at this year's Mobility Roadshow is Cyclefest focusing on special needs cycling and offering a great opportunity to try out in a specially designated area, a wide range of cycling options from tiny trikes to companion and wheelchair cycling. The charity Cycling Projects will be there to help visitors assess their requirements and Handcycling UK will advise the best vehicle match for this form of ‘wheeling'.
The Mobility Roadshow is the UK's premier consumer mobility and independent lifestyle. Established in 1983, this year it takes place on 1st 2nd and 3rd July at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.
Exhibitors at the Roadshow specialising in cycling needs for people with disabilities include newcomer to this sector, The Mountain Trike Company, at its first show and launching a new concept vehicle, which the company describes as a mountain bike for wheelchair users; manual powered with patented lever-drive propulsion, which they say easily tackles even the steepest hills.
Team Hybrid's Kiddy Viper and Kiddy Coyote Powered Handcycles are designed to help children develop their independence whilst having fun. They can have a go on them at the Roadshow. London Recumbents is showcasing its full range including passenger cycling, wheelchair cycling and tandems, many of which are suitable for children - either as cyclist or passenger.
Vivacity, Peterborough Culture and Leisure Trust, will be promoting its adapted cycle scheme, with bikes available for visitors to try.
Team Hybrid will unveil a lighter Lithium-ion battery pack offering its Cougar power-assisted handcycle enhanced distance capacity. Ashfield Special Needs will have its latest trikes, side-by-sides and wheelchair trikes.
Over three days the Roadshow delivers the opportunity to try and compare adapted vehicles and accessories, wheelchairs, scooters, home aids, interactive disability sports and cycling, and explore accessible travel and leisure options and expert advice from charity and support organisations - all in a ‘no pressure' environment. With entertainment for all the family - 4x4 experience, laser clays, archery, go-karts and more - it's a great day out.
