Go-Ride Take to New Stourport Circuit

The newly completed closed road circuit built at the Stourport Sports Club is now being fully utilised by the Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club. The 1.5km long and 6m wide circuit is being used by the club on Wednesday evenings for club training sessions and Friday evenings for Go-Ride sessions which are open to all Youth bike riders.
Wyre Forest CRC’s Richard Pedersen leads the Go-Ride sessions from 7pm for approximately one and a half hours and ensures that all the riders are introduced to cycling in an interesting and enjoyable way whilst following the guiding principles set down by British Cycling. Richard Pedersen said that all youngsters are welcome to Go-Ride the new circuit.
The club are also organising open events on the circuit on May 20, June 17, July 15 and August 12. The Club headquarters will be open for signing on and junior gear checking from 6.00pm. Each evenings racing will consist of two events.
The first race will be for 4th category men, women, plus 3rd and 4th category juniors over 40 minutes and 3 laps which will start at 7.00pm. The next event starts around 8.00pm over a distance of 50 minutes and 3 laps. The race is open to 2nd and 3rd category riders plus 1st and 2nd category Juniors. The entry fee on each night is £10 per race.
The club also state that they will run the first and third nights anti clockwise and the other two nights clockwise. The facility also offers free parking at the HQ with changing rooms, toilets, showers and bar/refreshments all available on the night. The club is based in Stourport-on-Severn, but draws its membership from the surrounding towns of Worcester, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Bewdley and beyond. The club with 100+ members have also achieved “Clubmark” accreditation and cater for all cyclists of any age or ability.
