The coaching team for the new Bournemouth Cycling Centre is being strengthened and a British Cycling Tutor group, led by Chester Hill, recently visited the track under construction. The first groups, training to become British Cycling level 2 coaches, are all from the Bournemouth area. Speaking at the first training weekend, Senior Session Manager, Roger Papp said:

With the centre due to open in May, we value the imput from British Cycling’s coaching and education arm, to help build a team of local coaches qualified to train the widest possible range of riding abilities. First and foremost to use the track safely, then encourage and support those riders to continue their participation in cycling related activities, to whatever level they are comfortable with."

Papp went on to say “We would like to emphasize Bournemouth Cycling Centre is there not just to support and encourage existing riders and club cyclists but as a facility for the entire local community. This will include schools, clubs, businesses and individuals who want to enjoy the track experience”.

The new cycling centre will eventually require up to 30 locally based coaches and will be recruiting more in the forthcoming months. Full details will be on the website, info@bournemouth.cc.co.uk  which will be launched in February.
