Joseph Smith and Manon Carpenter were the elite winners as the British Cycling MTB Downhill Series continued with round three at Llangollen in Wales.
Smith (Chain Reaction Cycles) was 1.427sec ahead on his nearest rival, while Carpenter (Madison Saracen Factory Team, pictured above) took victory by a comfortable 9.573sec.
The winner of the Schwalbe elite men’s category the last round, Gee Atherton had to settle for fourth spot as he was edged off the podium. Danny Hart (MS Mondraker) and Josh Bryceland (Santa Cruz Syndicate) took second and third respectively.
The winner of the Schwalbe elite women’s category in the last round, Rachel Atherton was a non-starter, which helped Carpenter step up from third last time out to win round three by a big margin from Katy Curd (Rose Vaujany) with Casey Brown (Bergamont Hayes) 22.240sec off the pace in third.
The series continued with round four on June 27-28, when they return to Wales, this time to Rhyd Y Felin (Bala).
