About our club

We are a cycling club that serves the areas of North Denbighshire and beyond, based at Marsh Tracks, Marsh Road, Rhyl LL18 2AD.

In more recent times the club's focus is primarily on youth and bringing them through from early years to adulthood with an increased understanding, and ability in, the sport of cycling in all its forms.

The club was formed in 1978 and changed names slightly (from Rhyl Road Club) in the mid-nineties. A proud moment was in 2008 when we obtained 'Clubmark' (now 'Go-Ride Accredited) status for being a model club in terms of how we structure, organise and provide activities for our members, particularly for youth. We were the first club in the whole of Wales to achieve this. The club has a world champion Orienteering mountain biker Sarah Bayliss (Veteran Womens Gold Medalist, 2010) and also saw Richard Hughes cross the line in club colours in 1989 as winner of the UK National Junior Road Race Championship in Lincoln, arguably the most prestigious victory in our 30 plus years existence so far by a rider wearing the orange of 'the Rhyl'. One of our most famous former members is none other than Dave Brailsford, who masterminded Bradley Wiggins and British Cycling's climb to the pinnacle of world cycling, the Tour De France in 2012. In 2017 Finley Douglas won the u14 Welsh Circuit Race Championship.

All, and we mean all, ages are welcome. We have something for everyone. Our aim is to help riders young and old to have a love and enjoyment of the sport and pastime of cycling, and we have the weekly and year-round activities to support that aim.

We are on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and are sponsored by Rhyl's top bike shop, The Bike Hub, at Rhyl Harbour. Members get 10% discount on parts and labour.
