British Cycling’s Go-Ride team and the Youth Sport Trust are offering a fully funded residential camp for ambitious young coaches and aspiring officials, who are on the Cycling Award for Young Volunteers programme.
We want to hear from you if you are:
- 14-18 years old and in full-time education in England.
- Keen to learn and develop yourself and others.
- Enthused to learn from influential people in the world of cycling and sport.
Taking place at the iconic Loughborough University from 16-19 December 2016, the National Talent Camp (NTC) is a unique and fantastic opportunity for keen and talented young coaches and officials to improve their skills and learn from experts in numerous fields.
Over the course of the weekend over 350 young volunteers will come together in a multi-sport, multi-disciplinary environment which will help participants to reflect upon what type of official or coach they want to be, and how to develop their skills.
Young volunteers will actively take part in a number of innovative workshops aiming to broaden their knowledge and really get them ‘thinking outside the box’, whilst learning from some of sports most talented innovators.
Today’s young volunteers will ultimately form the volunteer workforce for years to come and an event as impressive and well-co-ordinated as the NTC is the best possible platform, not just to develop as a coach or official but to also develop as a person, gaining valuable interpersonal skills and increased confidence that can be taken forward.
A young volunteer who attended the National Talent Camp in 2015, said: “It was the best weekend of my life! I have always been quite an introverted person but the camp has helped me to develop in so many areas, including an increase in confidence.
“It was an absolutely incredible opportunity and I loved every second of it. I am now motivated to be the best that I can be and I plan to use everything I have learned to develop as an official.
“From the camp I have taken away many new friends, fantastic life skills and an incentive to get up and go!”
If you are interested in this exciting opportunity (or know somebody who might be), please complete the application form and return it to the address provided by Monday 26 September 2016. Please note that numbers are limited and participants will be selected based on the strength of their application. Unfortunately this opportunity is not available to those who have previously attended the camp.
