British Cycling staff have been working tirelessly since the outbreak of Covid-19 to ensure coaches, clubs, leaders, volunteers, members and riders are kept informed and engaged throughout.

Though the guidelines for coaches, leaders and instructors has now been updated to allow some 1-to-1 activity as part of the governments updated strategy, it is recognised this does not yet signal a return to normality. As such, we are looking to continue delivering a range of digital opportunties to maintain good levels of engagement with all.

Here is an overview of some of the things that have been developed and offered:

  • Created a new website, Let's Ride Local, to support new and existing cyclists to access information they need to get on a bike and ride locally.
  • Created Zwift workouts for riders on the Talent Pathway, with over 170 riders in attendance at each session for the Tuesday workouts and Thursday race. The first Zwift stage race takes place on the weekend of 23rd May.
  • Created a Zwift league for clubs in the southern regions with over 5,000 participants across 184 British Cycling affiliated clubs
  • Developed, delivered and continue to deliver a range of webinars and live events - with 21 events offered, over 300 volunteers in attendance so far and 200 signed up for ones coming up.
  • Supported our Breeze Area Coordinators to hold online ‘Café Stop’ Calls with volunteers - we're missing the cafe stops on our led ride programmes!
  • Increased reglarity of blogs on our Let's Ride website.
  • Updated guidelines to include virtual coaching guidance.
  • Signed an agreement with UK Coaching for coaches and volunteers to access their elearning content at a discounted rate.
  • Offered our Using Rollers Workshop in your Coaching for free (usually £9.99) which was accessed by 136 coaches.
