The Level 3 qualification is currently our highest coaching certification and is for coaches who want to have the ability and knowledge to plan, deliver and evaluate detailed periodised training programmes for individual riders within a specific discipline.
Core unit
The first necessary qualification is that of the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Cycling (or equivalent), which is most people's entry point onto the qualification pathway. From there, you will have progressed onto the relevant discipline specific Level 2 coaching qualification.
For example, to attend a Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Road and Time-Trial, you must first be qualified as a Level 2 Road and Time-Trial Coach. Likewise, to undertake a Level 3 Mountain Bike qualification, you must first be qualified as a Level 2 Mountain Bike coach.
Finally, you must also:
- Obtain a current and recognised 1 Day Emergency First Aid Certificate, or equivalent
- Present a valid enhanced CRB check.
How much will it cost?
£910 - There maybe some financial assistance available. Please visit our funding page for further details.
Discipline specific unit
This is open to those who have previously attended and completed an alternative Level 3 qualification with British Cycling.
For example, if you have successfully completed all aspects of a Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Track, you will not need to attend the core modules of Level 3 (which account for first four days of contact time out of seven) in order to begin a Level 3 Mountain Bike qualification.
However, you must first have qualified at the relevant Level 2 discipline specific award. For example, you may have qualfied as a Level 3 Track coach, but before you can undertake Level 3 in Mountain Bike via Route 3, you must first be qualified as a Level 2 Mountain Bike coach.
How much will it cost?
£425 (£455 from 1st April 2017) - There maybe some financial assistance available. Please visit our funding page for further details.
