British Cycling to host 2025 Cycle Speedway World Championships as calendar announced

British Cycling is delighted to announce that the 2025 ICSF Cycle Speedway World Championships will take place on home soil from Tuesday 9 September to Sunday 21 September. This prestigious event will bring together the world’s best riders for 13 days of intense racing, showcasing the sport’s speed, skill, and excitement to fans across the UK.

The ICSF Cycle Speedway World Championships will take place in the South East, with more information to follow, and promises to be a highlight of the calendar, offering an unmissable opportunity to witness world-class competition on British tracks. 

British Cycling’s Head of Sport, Ant Gill, said:

“The return of the Cycle Speedway World Championships to the UK is a fantastic moment for our sport. It’s an incredible opportunity to celebrate the talent, dedication, and community that make cycle speedway so special. We’re looking forward to welcoming the world’s best riders and giving fans the chance to witness world-class racing right here at home.”

Alongside the ICSF World Championships, British Cycling is pleased to confirm the 2025 Cycle Speedway domestic calendar, featuring events for riders of all ages and abilities.

National Events

The UK’s top talent will compete for glory at the following national events:

  • Home Internationals: Norwich, Saturday 31 May
  • British Club Championships: Ipswich and Kesgrave, Saturday 21 – Sunday 22 June
  • Cycle Speedway Cup: Hull, Saturday 26 – Sunday 27 July
  • British Individual Championships: Southampton, Poole and Exeter, Saturday 23 – Monday 25 August
  • Little League Championships: Astley and Tyldesley, Saturday 30 August

British Youth and Junior League

The rising stars of British cycle speedway will battle it out over five thrilling rounds, with the venues still to be decided:

  • Round 1: Saturday 12 July – Venue TBC
  • Round 2: Saturday 9 August – Venue TBC
  • Round 3: Saturday 23 August – Venue TBC
  • Round 4: Saturday 4 October – Venue TBC
  • Round 5: Saturday 18 October – Venue TBC
Speedway

Women’s Battle of Britain and Grand Prix

Showcasing the very best of women’s cycle speedway, the series will unfold over four rounds:

  • Round 1: Saturday 10 May – Venue TBC
  • Round 2: Sunday 13 July – Venue TBC
  • Round 3: Saturday 9 August – Venue TBC
  • Round 4: Saturday 30 August – Venue TBC

The Open and Junior Battle of Britain will head to Norwich on Sunday 1 June, bringing together the UK’s top riders for an unmissable competition.
