South West Conference League Presentation

Poole club sponsor Dave Tarr was delighted to present the SWL Conference League trophy to the riders who form the spearheaded of the Dorset club's rapidly improving youth squad. With the British U.16 team title already under their belts, the Sea View side eclipsed defending champions and great rivals Exeter after repeated attempts to get their hands on the coveted trophy.

With an age limit of 18, the Conference is the only league team competition in the sport for youth and junior riders and the good news for Poole is that the whole of their 2009 squad will still be eligible for next seasons' competition which starts on April 11th with a mouth watering match up with Exeter at Harbourside Park.

Himself an accomplished rider in the 1950s and 60s, Dave was full of praise for the emphasis now placed on youth and junior riders at the club which had the highest BC registered membership in cycle speedway in the year just ended. "All the time we have young riders of this quality the sport has a very bright future" commented Dave.
