New Cycle Speedway Administrator for British Cycling

News Posted: 6 Feb 2010

It has just been announced following the latest the Cycle Speedway Commission Meeting in Birmingham that Paul West will be British Cycling's new cycle speedway administrator with effect from Monday 8th February.

Paul, who previously worked for British Cycling's events department, will be taking over the administrator role from Brian Furness who will be concentrating on cycling off road diciplines.Paul will also be taking on the responsibility for track and para-cycling(previously known as disabilty cycling).

Paul's vast knowledge of the sport will be a great asset to the cycle speedway discipline and will certainly continue to build on the success that Brian Furness has created during his time as administrator.

British Cycling Director and Chairman of cycle speedway commission Colin Docker said of Paul's appointment,

"I have worked with Paul previously at British Cycling and am looking forward to doing so again. His knowledge of cycle sport will be a great asset to BC and cycle Speedway"

He continued with his praise of Brian Furness

"I would like to thank Brian for all the work he has done in the past and will be pleased to continue working with him in connection with the cyclo cross commission
