Andy Whitehouse was our man trackside at the national indoor Cycle Speedway Championships. Below are slide shows, reports and results from a very busy weekend.

A strong Horspath team added the 2009 indoor team title to the outdoor trophy they claimed in the summer. A maximum sixteen points from 2009 veteran champion Steve Harris helped steer the Oxford team to an unbeatable fifty four points with runners up Leicester their closest rivels on forty one points. Sheffield secured the bronze medals with thirtyeight points and local side Bury trailed in fourth with twenty five points.

Bury's Ben Scranage was back to winning ways today (Sunday) taking the 2009 Indoor individual title.The 2004 champion fought off strong challenges from 2008 champion Mark Boaler (Horspath) and team mate Chris Parish who both finished on 16 points.The run off saw Boaler, the stronger rider of the two all day, claim runner up and the silver medal.
VETERAN CHAMPIONSHIP

A fit and focused looking Steve Harris added yet another indoor title to his palmares in the veterans' championships which puts the Horspath rider on six open titles and two veteran titles. An impressive outing saw Harris secure his first maximum of the day with twenty points to take the title from Exeter's Mark Reed (dad of Tom) who dropped two points to finish his campaign with eighteen points and the silver medal and Horspath team mate Mark Janes one point adrift to take the bronze
JUNIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

With 2007/2008 junior champions Wednesfield not fielding a team this year, the category was wide open for a new junior team to take the title. Local rivals Birmingham duly took up the challenge and made the title theirs.The team, which included U19 Individual outdoor champion Paul Heard,new signing and U16 individual champion Ben Mould on his first outing for his new club and newly crowned U19 Indoor champion Chris Timms, took the gold medals with fifty points to beat neighbours Sandwell into runners up spot by four points. Stong rides from all the Birmingham riders ensured the trophy was on its way back to the Midlands. Stockport took the third place spot with twenty six points.
U19 CHAMPIONSHIP

Birmingham Monarchs' Chris Timms rode to victory in the U19 championships only dropping one point in the hunt to claim the title. The Monarches' rider only lost one race which was to Stockport's Dylan Radcliffe who took the bronze medal position. Tom Reed recoverd enough from his efforts in the U16 match to take runner up spot after a gripping run off with Radcliffe.
U16 CHAMPIONSHIP

Tom Reed rode to a twenty point maximum to secure the Indoor U16 title. The young Exeter rider was unstoppable and again showed what a classy rider he is turning into. Stockport's Dylan Radcliffe was runner up with eighteen points, dropping two points in heat twelve to eventual winner Reed and bronze medal winner Matt Smith of Sandwell, who rode in one point adrift of Radcliffe with seventeen.
U13 CHAMPIONSHIP

Sandwell new boy Matt Haddock took the first championship title of the day with a fine win in U13 championship. Haddock only dropped one point from his five outings as he out-rode the competition leaving the minor positions to be fought out between Sheffield's Richard Fellgate, Astley and Tyldesley's Adam Phillips and Stockport's Matt Turner all on sixteen points. The run off was won by Fellgate who took silver with the bronze going to Adam Phillips.
