Archer Cyclo Cross, 30 September 2012

The Central Cyclo Cross League gets off to a flying start with the Archer Road Club’s event, which is upgraded this year to Category A.

Now it no longer clashes with a National Trophy event, a top level entry is expected on Sunday, 30 September, at the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit which is so well situated for access from the motorway network. The Category A rating brings with it an enhanced band of ranking points.

The success of the Central Cyclo-Cross League, only in its fourth year, means more organising clubs available than dates and regular big entries, so the Archer RC event has moved forward to tempt more of the Hillingdon circuit’s road race regulars to keep up their fitness with a new challenge on what is likely to be a hard and fast race layout.

In fact a few years ago a rider won the final road criterium at the circuit and two weeks later also won the Archer cyclo cross race. So it can be done.

The state-of-the-art clubroom at the circuit offers the ideal HQ, with changing rooms and hot showers available in the adjacent Goals Soccer Centre which is part of the Minet Country Park complex that includes plenty of parking and even a licensed bar in which to celebrate or drown sorrows!

Full details of the race meeting can be found on the Cyclo-Cross calendar with on-line entry, now the most convenient and economic way to do it - entries on the day will be accepted but at a slightly increased fee.
