Event: 25 November 2012
Report: Snowdon Sports

Scoring his fifth win of the series, John Whittington (CNP-Orbea) led all the way in heavy mud for Sunday’s Western League round at Conham River Park. In Bristol.

The race was run off in dry conditions, but all the rain of previous days had a considerable effect on both the surface and the size of the fields with flooding in a large part of the surrounding area.

Local man Whittington, 24, steadily pulled away over the nine laps to finish 37 seconds clear of Matt Zietz (Pearson CC), who ended up a comfortable second but only after a long scrap with Llewellyn Holmes (Strada Cycles).

The pair were locked together for five laps until a mechanical problem two laps from the end forced Llewellyn to run for the best part of a lap before able to change bikes.

It left Zietz out on his own in second place with Chris Baddick (Gear Movement) taking over third ahead of the luckless Llewellyn.

Result:

1 John Whittington (CNP-Orbea) 50-59
2 Matt Zietz (Pearson CC) at 37 sec
3 Chris Baddick (Gear Movement) at 3-19
