ONE Pro Cycling’s Jon Mould leads the 2015 British Cycling Elite Circuit Series overall standings ahead of round three, the Stockton Town Centre Race.

The event takes place in Stockton-on-Tees on Friday 10 July and is the third of eight fast and furious town centre races taking place throughout July and into August, after which the Elite Circuit Series overall winner will be crowned.

George Atkins

Thanks to a win at round two in Stafford and following a strong ride in round one, Jon Mould heads the overall standings on 56 points.

A slender six-point margin separates the 24-year-old from early rival Morgan Kneisky, whose bid for the series lead will be supported in Stockton by a strong Team Raleigh GAC outfit including British under-23 road race silver medallist Sam Lowe.

However, Mould may face stiff competition from within his own team, with ONE Pro Cycling’s George Atkins having taken the win in the Teesside town for the past two years.

Atkins, from Cardiff, took the win (and the series) in 2013 riding for 100%ME and won again in Stockton in 2014 in Team Raleigh colours, on his way to second overall.

Atkins currently lies in fourth place on 30 points, tied with round one winner Dan McLay of Bretagne-Seche Environnement.

Other notables on the start list include Olympian Ed Clancy, who has twice tasted elite criterium victory already this season in the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, the most experienced member of a JLT Condor team also featuring 2012 series winner Graham Briggs.

Team Wiggins bring Pearl Izumi Tour Series round six winner Chris Lawless along with Mark Christian and cross-country mountain bikers Iain Paton and Mike Thompson.

NFTO field some serious firepower with eight riders on the start list including Chorley Grand Prix winner Ian Bibby, promising under-23 Eddie Dunbar and the talented Steele Von Hoff.
