Lulworth Off-Road 2018

Offroad Endurance , East Lulworth – Sunday, 30 Sep 2018

Event Summary

Event Overview

This is the third event of its kind to be hosted by the Lulworth Estate under the supervision of the Lulworth Ranger team.

The route is split in to two route lengths this year (29km & 58km).  All of which start and finish infront of Lulworth Castle.

We have taken on board suggestions from the 2017 event and removed the section which passed through a rather muddy field on the first section of the route. Though in doing so we have had to add in an extra hill, but it is on hard packed trail so shouldn't be any harder than the original route (just cleaner).

The longer route will still have a bail-out option marked out for those taking on the long route.  This will take the place of the old 'Medium' route.  It will also contain another section of off-road riding to break up the main road section, though this is very weather dependant.

If you experience any mechanical difficulties on route our roaming mechanic will be with you as fast as the winding roads and speed limits permit.

The route crosses its way through some of the most dramatic scenary in Dorset, with everything from long views along the Jurassic Coast, to wild flower meadows and 18th Century follies. The long route also gives you some fantastic views of Corfe Castle and the medium route takes you past the impressive Grange Arch.  The route itself also takes advantage of the unique access across many permissive bridleways owned and managed by the Lulworth Estate.

The beauty of the route should help to numb that tired feeling in your thighs as you ascend some punishing hills, all of which are rewarded with fast-flowing descents.

The Lulworth Estate extends over 12,000 acres (20 square miles) of the south Dorset countryside, covering 5 miles of the Jurassic Coast and includes internationally renowned landmarks such as Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Lulworth’s estate pedigree can go back as far as Doomsday times in the 11th century and beyond, and, since 1641, it has been owned and managed by the Weld family.
