Saddle up for the 2019 Wallingford Festival of Cycling

Wallingford Festival of Cycling is returning for the fifth year and we are thrilled to announce our action-packed weekend programme from 12 – 14 July 2019. The festival is a celebration of the inclusive world of cycling with a vision for getting more people on their bikes more often.

This year will showcase several brand-new additions to the festival. On the Kinecroft, there will be a 100 meter racing course, an 80 meter dual track course with an 8 meter downhill section and a giant airbag for aspiring stunt riders to fall into! The pump track with its rolling bumps and banked corners is back due to popular demand. All these courses and tracks can be enjoyed over the course of the weekend by all cyclists, with a chance to also sign up to more competitive events.

Local schools will have a chance to enter their students into the Saturday competitive cycling events, and could be crowned the Best Cycling School in South Oxfordshire based on their student’s bike handling skills and speed!

We are launching new distances for the cycle rides on the Sunday. The 5 mile family ride is offering a new route exploring the trails and streets in and around Wallingford. There will be a 13 and 27 mile route for beginner riders, ready to challenge themselves before attempting the 37 and 75 mile routes. To offer that extra little bit, there will also be a 100 mile route for our more experienced riders.

With secure bike parking on the Kinecroft, residents and participants can leave their bikes to stay and watch the exciting town centre races and enjoy all the other family activities on offer, including how to ride a Penny Farthing!
