This year the Fenwick's Tour of Mendip comprises two Events taking place on the same weekend.and sharing HQ venues:

The Junior Tour Of Mendip and The Clive Tiley Memorial Stage Race.

Both are Stage Races held over three days.

Both Events will use the same Headquarters and Courses.  All Stages are on or near the Mendip Hills (South of Bristol). 

This entry page is for the Clive Tiley Memorial Stage Race.

Clive Tiley was a popular commissaire for road, circuit and cyclo-cross races.  He commissaired the Fenwick's Junior Tour of Mendip in 2021 and in past years had organised and commissaired other races, both locally and Nationally.

The Stages:

Friday,18th August 2023 - Stage 1: Traffic Free Circuit-based Individual Time Trials and Stage 1a or 1b:  Criterium - both using the purpose built Cycling Circuit at Odd Down, Bath.  (Please note riders will ride either Criterium 1a or 1b)

Saturday, 19th August 2023 - Stage 2: For the Sprinters - using the Riflemans' Road Course on the top of the Mendip Hills near Priddy.

Sunday, 20th August 2023 - Stage 3: For the Climbers - using the Circuit of The Mendips Road Course including climbs of Blagdon Rhodyate and West Harptree Hill.

In addition to the Overall General Classification, the Events will award Individual Time Trial, Sprints and Mendip Hills Climbers Classifications.

The Clive Tiley Memorial Road Race is open to male and female riders (subject to the age and category requirements for a National B race).

Please note:  For Stage 1 all riders must use a bike, wheels and helmet that conform to British Cycling Technical Regulations governing a Road Race and not a Time Trial and no specific Time Trial bikes or helmets will be allowed.  In summary, the same bike and equipment that riders will use for all Stages.

Event Headquarters on Friday (18th) will be at Odd Down Sports Ground, Chelwood Drive, Bath, BA2 2PR.

Event Headquarters on Saturday (19th) and Sunday (20th) will be at Yeo Valley Farms Headquarters, Rhodyate, Blagdon, BS40 7YE

Please look out for updates on our Social Media in the lead up to the Events and also please check the Race Manual that will be issued just before the event for full, up to date details.  In particular, please check the start times of each race as these are subject to change.

Info for Riders

Please ensure that your email address and other contact details recorded on the British Cycling membership database are up to date as this system will be used for all communications.

Also, please ensure that the credit / debit card you are using to pay the entry fee will be valid on 7th August 2023 when the rider selection is made (using data from the British Cycling website and by UK National and Regional Ranking Points as at that date).

The fields will be confirmed by 10th August 2023.

As the Event Permit will limit the field sizes to 80 riders, the maximum Team size, for the Team Classification, will be limited to 4 riders.  Teams will be accepted if composed of any one Region/Home Nation, Team or Club. (This number may be reduced to 3 if necessary).

The Entry Acceptance Criteria priorities will be as a) to g) below for male riders, and as b) to g) below for female riders:

a)  Second Year Junior Riders (born 2005), eligible to enter but not accepted into the 2023 Fenwick's Junior Tour of Mendip

b)  Under 23 Riders who are E/1/2

c)  South Region Riders who are E/1/2 category riders

d)  Other Riders who are E/1/2 category riders 

e)  South Region Under 23 Riders who are third category riders

f)  Other Under 23 Riders who are third category riders

g)  Other Riders who are third category riders

Deciders within above criteria will be by UK National and Regional Ranking Points
