Round 1 of a 3 round criterium style circuit racing series at Hetton Lyons Country Park

Each round consists of

• Men's 4th Cat only race
• Women's 2/3/4 race
• Men's 2/3/4 race

The intention is to create a cheap to enter racing series. Therefore, there will be no prize money awarded at each round.  Trophies will be awarded at the end of the series for individuals and teams

Entry is on a first come first served basis. We highly recommend entering this event early to guarantee your starting place. We will be operating a reserve list in the event that entry is oversubscribed.

Series trophies will be awarded as follows:

• Highest scoring male and female rider based on their total score from their best 3 rounds. 
• Team prize for total score from their best 10 results across all races and all rounds
• Tie-breakers will be decided on count back
• A points system will be used to score top 15 riders in each race with 1st place earning 15 points, 2nd place earning 14 points etc etc

Muckle Cycle Club host the 1^st of the 3 criterium events to be held at the Hetton Lyons Country Park Circuit.

Muckle CC have a fantastic, fun afternoon of racing planned with podium prizes, veteran prizes, primes, most combative riders and a selection of spot prizes donated by our sponsors. Prizes for Round 1 of the Hetton Circuit Series are presented by iMuckle CC in addition to the overall series competition awards..

Do you have a retro racing outfit that needs to be seen, the cleanest, shiniest most blinged up bike in the North East or will you be that person who has a puncture on the start line, the first lap or even warming up!? There will be a professional photographer in attendance for all of those important race action photographs.

Muckle Cycle Club would love you to bring friends, family and fellow club or team members to the event and make it a special atmosphere for the riders on the day and a fun day out for everyone. Our intention is to have other cycling activities in association with British Cycling North East accompanying the afternoon’s racing for those that would like to experience riding their bikes in a non-competitive way and meeting other like minded people in a very social setting.

Muckle Cycle Club have 3 races planned running in the following order on the day;

12.45 Sign on opens 

13:30 to 14:20 Men's 4th Cat race (35 min +5 laps)

14:45 4th Cat Podium

14:30 to 15:20 Women’s 2/3/4 race (35 min +5 laps)

15:45 Women’s Podium

15:30 to 14:30 Men's 2/3/4 race (45 min + 5 laps)

16:45 2/3/4 podium + Muckle CC Overall Team Prize

Entry on the day of the event will be £25.00 if start places are available (This will be exact cash only please).

Cat 4 riders wishing to enter both the Men’s Cat 4 only race and the Men’s Cat 2/3/4 should enter both races separately online.

There is no limit on the number of entries from each club. Muckle CC will award an overall team prize. To qualify, each club must have a minimum of 2 riders participating in each race. Entry must be online to qualify.

Refunds at the discretion of the race organisers. No refunds will be provided after 24/03/2023.

Reserve lists will be in operation for fully subscribed races. Reserves enter by paying the online entry fee. There is no guarantee of a race + no refund

Men’s Cat 4 – This event is the recommended option for Cat 4 riders with limited racing experience or who are new to criterium / circuit racing. We recommend entrants have prior experience of group riding.

Women’s Cat 2/3/4 – We would encourage entries from female riders of all abilities. We recommend Cat 4 entrants have prior experience of group riding.

Men’s Cat 2/3/4 –  For overall safety of the riders and enjoyment of the event we recommend Cat 4 riders entering this race have a good level of experience in group riding and criterium racing. We do not wish to discourage entries, however rider safety is our priority.
