April 2023 sees the return of Thursday evening MK Bowl races run on a similar basis as before but with the added benefit of chip timing to help with placing riders.  Details of entry and timing chip allocation are shown in rider information.  There will be two periods of two weeks in June and August when the circuit is not available when the MK Bowl is being used for concerts.  

This will be a league series with the best counting results used to create the league table.  There will be 15 events in total with the first 14 being counting weeks towards the league table and the last week being a stand alone event.  For the men's series it will be the best 10 results of 14 events that count for the league table and for the women it will be the best 5 results of 7 events as there are two women's series alternating each week.  

The racing format is as follows:

Men’s 4th Cats and Women’s races running 1 min apart concurrently on the inner Bowl course starting at 6pm followed by Men's 3/4 Cats and E123 Cats races on the extended East loop course (subject to weather conditions) running 1 minute apart concurrently starting at 7pm.  Local rules will apply and will be made clear via all communication formats.

Info for Riders

We are using a chip timing system to record each rider's finishing position so please note instructions below.

Online entry closes each Wednesday evening at 19:00 so that timing chips can be allocated to each rider. Riders retain the same race bib number for the series but timing chips must be handed back at each event.  At sign on riders must leave their race licenses or some other item of value as a deposit for the timing chip.

Parking - please follow all parking signs and instructions. Sign on will be at the Bowl Pavilion just inside the main entrance.  

Riders are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Day licenses will be accepted.

Timing Chips

• Timing chips will be issued when riders sign on
• Chips must be strapped to the rider’s left ankle - if possible under a sock as this keeps the strap cleaner
• During warm up riders should ride over the finish mat to ensure their chip signal is registering
• Riders that drop out during the race must return their chip to sign on in the pavilion
• All riders must return their chips to sign on in the pavilion after their race.
• Lapped riders will be pulled from the event before the finish to ensure control of the finish time on the timing system

Entry after 19:00 on Wednesday evening and on the day @ £20 is available and is made using https://my.raceresult.com/events/

Search Thursday Crit and you will see the Bowl Races listed.  You must use this link to be allocated a timing chip.

Results – Provisional results are found on the same my.raceresult website.  Official results will be posted on the British Cycling results page.

Vouchers for free event entry may be offered to riders that marshal at events.
