The Otley One - Reliability Ride Sunday 4th February 2024

£5 on-line.

Around £1.20 of this fee goes to British Cycling to provide insurance for the event.

This is Ride 4 of the 'Terrific Ten' Yorkshire Reliability Rides. 

Otley Cycle Club's has two routes:

  • 90K ride to Kettlewell and return to Otley  in 3.5 hours.
  • 50K ride to  Barden Tower and return via Cavendish Pavilion, Bolton Abbey in 3 hours.

Groups of cyclists work together to ensure that they get around the course safely and within time. All riders are required to be self-sufficient;  They need to repair their own bikes and take any food etc. with them on the ride. 

This event takes place on the open roads and rules of the Highway Code must be followed at all times. The wearing of suitable cycle helmets on the event is also mandatory. 

This reliability ride has been going for over 20 years. Profits go towards Otley Cycle Club's work to promote cycling.

Info for Riders

Signing on starts at 8.45 am. at the Buttercross (LS21 3HN) in Otley (the market place in the town centre) with riders starting on a rolling basis from then until 9.30 am.

The cost to ride the event is £5 per person, around £1.20 of this fee goes to British Cycling to provide insurance for the event.

We prefer on-line booking in advance but on the day entries are available payable by card or cash.

Leaving Otley

Remember this is not a race!!

We have to share the roads with other road users. Look after one another and have a safe ride.

Riders registered in advance should check-in before the ride at the Buttercross in the Market Square in Otley to confirm entry and to check whether the rider is returning to Otley.

On the day registration is also available, £5 payable by card or cash. 

Returning to Otley

On return, please sign off at Chevin Cycles, Otley Shop (LS21 1BR). This will allow the host Otley Cycle Club team to check that all riders have returned safely. 

Tea/coffee cakes and an abundance of food will be available at Otley Cycle Club (LS21 1JH), located 50 yd down the cobbled lane from Chevin Cycles.

90k in 3.5 hours.

This is the only Reliability Ride to give riders a sense of the Dales.

Rolling start between 08.45 - 09:30 am : From Boroughgate by Buttercross Market Place, Otley, A65-Ilkley, Addingham, Bolton Abbey, Barden Tower, Appletreewick, Grassington, Conistone, Kettlewell, Kilnsey, Threshfield, Burnsall, Barden, Bolton Bridge, Addingham, Ilkley, Askwith, finish at Chevin Cycles in Otley.

Rolling start between 08.45 - 09:30 am: As above to the Barden Tower / Barden Bridge. Turn rights at top of hill after bridge and return via back rod through Cavendish Pavillion, Bolton Abbey, ilkley and Askwith,
