About the Event

Info for Riders

Hell of the North Cotswolds (HONC) was originally conceived as an “homage” to the famous Paris – Roubaix event in France and was traditionally run on the same week end.

Sadly the intervention of Covid required the event be moved to a later start date. This year, hopefully a sunny day, the event will be on 1st September 2024.

It is a Non-Competitive On & Off Road Endurance Event aimed at experienced riders & is run over challenging routes across the hills and valleys of the beautiful North Cotswolds, using a combination of roads, tracks and bridleways, with significant off-road sections, suitable for mountain bikes, CX and gravel bikes.

You can choose on the day between a 100km route for experienced and fit riders and a 50km route for those who know just how tough the off-road Cotswold Hills can be. Alternatively you can ride a 75km route by following the 100km route to the Food Stop & then following the 50km to the finish.

The start is now staggered with riders pre-registered able to choose when they set off from 7.30am until 9.00am on the morning of the event.

Parking will open at 6.30am.

Gpx routes will be made available to all registered riders in the week before the event. Routes will be marked by distinctive black & yellow HONC arrows. Those requiring a map will need to print it themselves from pdf files that will be made available to those registered to take part.

Food & drink will be available all day at the start/finish from 07.00am and there will also be a refreshment provision at around the half way point of the 100km 75km, & 50km routes where food, water & toilets will be available.

Car Parking, toilets will be available at the start at Sudeley Castle & a back-up cycle recovery service will be provided.

Cycle mechanics will be available, the service provided by Cyclists Fighting Cancer cyclistfc.org.uk. Parts will be chargeable so please ensure you have a means of payment.

A medal will be awarded to all finishers.

HONC merchandise will also be available on the day.
