Dulwich Paragon CC x Brixton CC . Club Crit Champs 2024

Closed Circuit , London – Saturday, 21 Sep 2024

Event Summary

Event Overview

Another Dulwich x Brixton Mashup!

This event is only for DPCC and BC members. See club communication channels for sign up link.

Featuring a Men's Novice Race, a Brixton Men's Race, a Dulwich & Brixton Women's race and a Dulwich Men's Race, all at the Velopark crit circuit.

First race off at 14:00 and last race finishing at 17:10 on the afternoon of Saturday 21st September 2024.

The women's race is combined DPCC & BC to increase participation numbers which have historically been quite low. I would encourage novice women to sign up to the women's race rather than the novice race, as this will likely be a smaller group. This is a very friendly environment to try out racing - only one race will be on the circuit at any one time, so there will never be a big group of other riders rushing past during the event and you will be surrounded by club mates.

We are offering a confidence and skills building session the week before on 14th September at the same venue, open to all DPCC/BC club members, but especially those that might not feel confident enough to just jump in on race day without some prior experience.

About the Event

Info for Riders

There is something for all club members at this event, regardless of your previous racing experience. You will be hard pressed to find a safer & friendlier enviroment to try out racing for the first time, so if that's you, get involved!

The women's race is being run as a combined club event to help increase participation numbers. There will be a winner crowned from both Dulwich and Brixton, so this might result in some interesting race day tactics - you are racing against your club mates, not with them - so this should be considered!

It is recommended that those joining the novice race, and those who have limited racing experience in the other events, attend the confidence & skills building session held on the 14th September, but this is not a requirement. The first few laps of the Novice Race will be neutralised and led out by an experienced racer to allow the riders to see the corners without feeling the need to attack them. This is a fun event, we are racing but most of all we want to enjoy ourselves, so keep a cool head and ride within your capabilities at all times.

Depending on sign-up numbers the main event races will be run as handicap races. This means that 4th cat riders will be set off first, then, after a short interval, the 3rds etc. At the start of the race the groups should work together to catch the group ahead then, after the catch has been made, it's race on to the finish line!

I would like to remind all riders that only the current reigning champion can wear their club kit to race, so it's time to dig out any weird and wonderful 'other' kit that you might have in your possession and race for the right to wear your true colours with pride in 2022!

Finally, to return to my first point, please do not forget that this is a fun event, we are racing but most of all we want to enjoy ourselves, so keep a cool head and ride within your capabilities at all times.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
