Whether you are a club, part of a club, an enthusiast or just a reasonably experienced rider, we fully recommend you add this event to your annual cycling calendar. The history of the Five Valleys race route comes from an event which was started as a road race by the Port Talbot Wheelers in 1958 and grew to become one of the most famous races held in Wales. It was the only race in Wales which was given a Star Trophy status – now known as the National Road Race Series. The reason for its popularity was because it was such an arduous course taking in some of the most historical climbs in South Wales.

In 2013, The Five Valleys Sportive was open to Cycle Club members by invitation of Prostate Cymru to launch the event and raise the profile of the Charity. The success of the launch event and the enthusiasm of the riders led to the formal creation of the Prostate Cymru Five Valleys Sportive in 2014 which is now open to include the general public and cycling enthusiasts.
