MTB XC , Storridge – Saturday, 28 Sep 2024

Event Summary

Event Overview

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO ON THE DAY PLACES FOR EVENT 1 (MTB COACHING & SKILLS SESSION) 9-11am. WE STRONGLY ADVISE TO CHECK IF THERE ARE PLACES IN THE JUNIOR 8-13 RACE AND OPEN 14+ RACE IF YOU WISH TO ENTER ON THE DAY BEFORE ATTENDING.

Event 1: 9-11am - Malvern Cycle Sport - MTB coaching & skills session 4-13 year olds

Coaching sessions for 4-13 yr olds - groups will be coached on fundamental off road skills in 4 different zones throughout the woodland venue. Coaches all BC qualified and small groups. Children aged 8-13yrs can then opt to stay after the coaching and try out their new skills in a fun racing environment (please enter this race separately on this page).

Please ensure your child's bike is in good condition before arrival, and that your child has a helmet and appropriate clothing for conditions on the day. Please also let us know of any relevant medical conditions prior to the coaching event.

Event 2: 11.30-12pm - Malvern Cycle Sport - junior race 8-13 year olds

Event 3: 1-2pm - Malvern Cycle Sport - open race 14+ (including seniors)

Events 2 and 3 are a community organised, grass roots racing event, open to all riders but absolutely perfect for those new to competitive off-road cycling.  A friendly, welcoming atmosphere awaits, and spectators are welcome (though bring a chair!).  Entries online in advance are required for all events, there may be a limited number of on-the-day entries available for the Junior and Open races.  See social media (Malvern Cycle Sport public Facebook page) for on the day info.

Riders will race over a mix of woodland and meadow trails.  The course will change slightly for each round but will be designed with an XC mountain bike in mind (though it should also be fine on a gravel bike or CX bike).  Please note the course for the Junior Race will be shorter and flatter than the course for the Open Race.  The Open Race is aimed at older juniors and senior riders but is open to the more experienced (and competitive) junior riders aged 12 and over.

In both races, each racer will be issued an ankle timing chip so that lap times and results can be shared after the event; please note that in the very unlikely event of a technology failure, we will not be able to issue you with lap numbers or timings.  The course is only open for practice at the scheduled times. This venue is on private land and is only open for use during race times; any use outside of these times may jeopardise future events.

Riders will also be allocated points in each round and an overall series ranking (and prize for the winners) will be given to those riders who have competed in at least two of the three events in the series in the following categories: Junior race: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13; Open race: 14-15,16-17, 18+.

In the event of very wet weather, please note that this event may be cancelled at short notice if the parking is unusable.  Parking is open from 5pm; please follow signs, and directions given by marshals, for parking.
