About the Event

Info for Riders

These are regular 2.5 hour group coaching sessions to offer young aspiring racers the chance to begin their journey with the British Cycling Talent Development regional Gravity pool.

The sessions will be designed to give riders from the age of 12 through to 16 the skills and techniques they need to become a competent gravity racer.

Juvenile - 9:30 - riders must be in the year of their 13th or 14th birthday

Youth - 13:00 - riders must be in the year of their 15th or 16th birthday

Sessions will be led by Pro Ride’s Luke Marshall who has raced to World cup DH level. The design and approach will be supported by Oliver Morris, Elite DH racer, and performance coach for Laurie Greenland and DH Factory racing teams. Other coaches from the region will also be used to support coaching delivery when required.

Entry criteria:

-        Riders must be in Juvenile or Youth category in 2024 (12-16 years old)

-        Riders must be competing regionally level in 2024

-        Riders ideally need to be a reasonable distance from the Forest of Dean (contact us for more details)

-        Appropriate bike with 2 working brakes and at least front suspension

-        Appropriate off road MTB helmet, knee pads and gloves

-        Riders must be of adequate rider ability for this level of course, e.g. ability to ride the majority of trails at the Forest of Dean cycle centre

As you can see, this isn’t an entry level course. This is for young riders who already show good ability and desire to race gravity MTB. If unsure, please contact us for more info before booking on.

By booking on you are requesting a place on this session - sifting against the criteria will then be done. All riders will be contacted with a decision if they have been allocated a space or not ASAP after that. At present, there are 8 places per session but we will look to open more places in the future if demand is high.
