Event Overview

British Cycling Pathway Development Centre BMX – South:

South Club Cluster coaching - South Region BMX clubs for club members nominated by their club coaches. By invitation only. Sessions led by BMX-specific qualified club coaches. At least two qualified coaches will be on site.

 

Junior (11-12), Girls and Senior (13+) sessions will be run. Cardiff session will be two groups only. 

All sessions: £20/2 hrs 

 

Cardiff:

Junior (12/under - Open and Female), 5m only: 11:00-13:00

Senior (13+ - Open and Female), 5m/8m: 13:00-15:30

 

Please note:

- only 13+ riders assessed to be competent to move to the 8m hill will be allowed to do so, and coached through a progressive programme by qualified 8m coaches; John Twitchen and Eric Esslemont are both qualified 8m coaches

- both sessions (12/under and 13+) will focus on track familiarisation and progression

- female racers 13+ may opt to choose the earlier session if they are not planning to ride the 8m hill

- organisers may request riders switch session to balance numbers, subject to demand

- priority is provided to racers who have attended one or more development centre sessions 2024/2025 #1-3; anyone else booking will be held on a reserve list and participation will be confirmed subject to availability

 

About the 2024-25 programme:

Formerly the Deep South Development Centre, the programme is for 11-12 year old and 13+ year old national level racers meeting core criteria and put forward by their club coaches. The centre includes a dedicated girls-only group. The Centre now serves the South Region. It is led by John Twitchen – qualified Level 2 BMX specific coach.
