West Thames League Rnd 1

Closed Circuit , Hayes – Tuesday, 15 Apr 2025

Event Summary

Event Overview

Back for another year this ever popular series promoted by West Thames promotions will start on Tuesday 15th April 2025, and run every Tuesday till the 12th August 2025

Race format will follow the same format as last year, a 4th category and separate women's race to start at 6.30 p.m. followed by an E/12/3 event and running at the same time a 3rds only event starting at 7.10 p.m..

This year we will be running women's races every week, the first will be a separate 3rd/4ths race, the 2nd will be a 2/3/4 cat race and the 3rd week will be an E/1/2/3. This will repeat over the series. This is the feedback we had back suits most female riders and categories.

E/1 Women are welcome to ride in the men's events on the dates when the 3/4 races are being run.

All West Thames affiliated riders will score points if finishing in the top 10 and we will be running a league competition for WT members.

Pre race entry fees are WT members £14 and non members  £19

Entry on the day will be WT members £20 or £25 non members

About the Event

Info for Riders

Riders do not have to join the West Thames league to participate (yearly cost £13) but if they do they will benefit from a reduction on entry fees, and also will take preference for acceptance for events. As organisers we would like to have riders pre-enter it makes it easier for you as riders and us as organisers. But we understand that this cannot always be done.

We are also well aware of the cost of living crisis, and have tried to keep increases to a minimum. But with increasing registration fees and other incidentals we have had to increase a small amount. So after keeping fees the same for the past 4 seasons a minimal rise is inevitable. So prizes may change slightly but the final budgets are being worked through.

Although the Risk Assessment for the circuit allows fields of 80 riders in one race, we restrict the number of 4th cat riders to 60.

Those registering for the league will be issued with a race number for the season which they must keep and bring to all events!

There will be nominal prizes in all races and we have always had a weekly memento for the winner of the 4th cat race and will be doing again for 2025

An overall series will also run over the season. All league riders finishing in the top 10 will be awarded points. Last year we had 6 cash prizes for those in the top placings. Plus some spot prizes at our last round with a pizza and beer get together.

BC Ranking Points will awarded in both events.

It is crucial that you pin your race number in the correct position as photo finish equipment is used. This enable the organisers to place you correctly. This year any rider whose number is not adorned correctly will NOT be placed..

Results/links to photo' and all up to date info regarding league positions will be posted up on the West Thames Facebook page

3rd Category riders can choose their race, however if they move up to ride the E/1/2/3 they can not swap back unless there are extenuating circumstances .

The event is run as Regional C+ classification.

The 4th cat event is aimed at providing competitors a great facility to learn to ride in a bunch and build race skills and experience.

NOTE: Secure lockers are provided within the club house for a refundable £2.00 deposit, please do not leave valuables within your vehicle. The organising team cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to equipment left in such a way.

Race results and photos will be posted up on the following Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/387804418770592 as well as the results being sent to British Cycling

The distances of the races will increase with the lighter evenings.

On Tuesdays the 4th Cat rand women's races will start promptly at 6.30 p.m. for the first 4 weeks. After which it will move to 06.45pm. The start time of the other 2 races  will be 07.10pm for the first for weeks then move to 7.25pm. .
