Royal Navy Cup p/b SWRRWG

Road , Ilton – Saturday, 01 Mar 2025

Event Summary

Event Overview

Ilton's still on the cards for 2025 and we're back for a 2nd year with a Nat B event.

To open up the 2025 Season we return to Ilton/Merryfield/The Windy City. After last years success we're continuing to provide something a little different as an opening race so will be running a 120km closed road event around the perimeter taxi way of the airfield.

The Navy Cup will be treated as Road event rather than closed circuit meeting all the needs of a full points, Nat B event. (Yes, you can enter as a 3rd Cat rider!!)

We'll have a Green Zone for wrapper drops so you will be able to take your favourite snacks over what is bound to be some pretty intense racing.

Remember it's 120km... your first lap solo attack probably won't stick -  or will it?

Welcome to Ilton's race of attrition!

We will also have concurrent support events for the Open 4's and Womens E123 at standard distances over an hour each.

Event Photos will hopefully be here - https://www.pelotonpix.uk/index

About the Event

Info for Riders

The Open E123 Event will be run over 24 laps of the main Taxiway around the airfield. This will include at least half a lap neutral for anyone who hasn’t been previously.

This year we can accept juniors, however the youth events will wait for some slightly milder weather!

The Women’s and Open 4’s will be run over 90 and 60 mins respectively.

The race goes around the runways - Not down them… Keep your head and eyes up within the bunch.

Timing chips will be used - please bring your license as a deposit. Otherwise we will need a bank card/Driving License.

We have worked with the Royal Navy to provide a Trophy for the winners of both Elite races.

We have also secured a strong Prize pot backed by the South West Road Race Work Group as per the below. Top 3 are guaranteed pay outs, 4th -10th will be paid based on final entry numbers

RNAS Merryfield is a working military airfield.

Helicopters dont like Gel and food Wrappers - the repair bills are costly.

Due to this, anyone dropping ANY litter on site will be DQ’d and banned from future events.

Due to the length of the E123 events there will be a Green Zone near the start to drop off wrappers. It will not be a hand up / bottle zone as race speeds will be too high.

Due to being on a Military site - Cameras of any sort will not be allowed On-Bike. This will be checked at the start.

You should all have read the ride safe manual by now - please take note of it.

There will be Portaloos on site - USE THEM. Anyone found using an alternative will be DQ’d and banned from future events.

This Event will also not allow on board cameras - Commissaires will be checking pre race. This is due to the event being on MOD property.
