Totnes Vire as a race, dates back to 1974 and celebrates the twinning of the two towns. It’s one of the longest established races in the UK calendar and a history can be found here: Totnes Vire History

This classic race has led to some immense battles in the past with previous winners including; Darrel Webster, Mark Bell, Peter Longbottom, Jon Locke, Matt Holmes, Rory Townsend, Cornish legend Steve Lampier and our own Mike Parker.

In 2025, the Mid Devon CC will organise the 51th edition of the Totnes Vire and it returns as a 3 stage, 2 day race. Please note: this event will be open to 1st year Juniors and awarded reduced points as the minimum distance for a National B event has not been achieved. 

To honour the 3 greats of the club that we have lost over the past year we have decided to name each stage in memory of them.

Saturday 5th April 2025

Stage 1 Kens "Oddicombe" Hill Climb - 2.5 mins - 0.6 mile

We reprised this stage from our classic 1980's Road race last year and it was a roaring success. A real leg burner and the road will be closed - enjoy :)

Stage 2 Colin Lewis Velopark Criterium - 1 Hour 30 Mins. 42 miles approx

Colin lived in Paignton for many years and ran his successful business from here. The second stage will have plenty of bonus seconds available to fight for.

Roy Hopkins Dartmoor View Road Race. 68miles approx

Roy loved a hard day out and with some epic views over the North moor, this is a challenging course. Two laps of the main circuit and two laps of the finishing circuit finishing at Hatherleigh.
