MV Bike Park Kids MTB Series 2025 - Round 1

Event Overview

The MV Bike Park Kids MTB Series will be based on the Go-Ride Race format. Round 1 will take place on Wednesday April 23rd at MV Bike Park Caerphilly hosted by MV Bike Park, Sunset Cycles, Innovative Fire & Security and supported by Welsh Cycling.

The event is open to kids in Categories from Under 8s to Under 14s no matter their ability or bike, provided they have a helmet and their bike is in good working order and suitable for an off road race. There is a category for boys and girls in each group. At each round we will hold a Podium with Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category for boys and girls, with an overall Podium at the final round for the top 3 in the series based on a series points system from the 3 rounds of the series.

Cross Country Mountain Bike racing is off-road cycle racing which takes place in a variety of off-road venues. Mountain Bike racing is often held in parkland, woodland, and forestry sites. These venues are designed to include climbs, decent and other technical features.

About the Event

Info for Riders

The series is open to anyone within the age range, designed as entry level events to promote cycling and racing to kids in South Wales. Races will be split into boys and girls category’s. The category’s will be:

Under 8s

Under 10s

Under 12s

Under 14s

 

The MV Bike Park café will be open during the event for drinks and snacks.

 

Entry fee per race is £6.00 online at British Cycling website (plus £1.00 admin fee). Online entry closes at 2300 on Monday 21st April.

THERE ARE NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY

 

Race 1 – XC - Wednesday April 23rd

Laps around a designated route (weather considered) with a set number of laps for each age group.

Also a timed lap on the Pump Track.

 

Race 2 - Wednesday May 21st

 

Race 3 - Wednesday June 25th

 

Podiums and Overall Series

At each round the top 3 girls and boys will be awarded a medal at the Podium presentation.

The 3 rounds will count towards the series overall with points from each race (with the sub races like the pumptrack included towards the points this year). The points structure will be announced shortly.

At the final round the overall series top 3 of the girls and boys in each age group will be announced, and a trophy awarded to each series winner.

 

Race 1 – Schedule

 

1645-1730 – Registration, in the café.

1740 – Practice, all age groups. A lap of the race track by a lead rider so all entrants have a course practice.

 

Under 8s

1800 – XC Race.

1845 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

 

Under 10s

1820 – XC Race.

1850 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

 

Under 12s

1800 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

1845 – XC Race.

 

Under 14s

1805 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

1905 – XC Race.

 

1930 – Podiums.
