Info for Riders

Thanks to the amazing team at 'Friends of Haughton Park' we're getting a brand new race series going at the new pump track!  All profits from race entries will be donated straight back to the pump track, to help with ongoing running costs and ensure that it continues to be well-looked after for many years.

The format is pretty simple - each rider will get two timed laps of the entire track, with the fastest lap counting.  Only one rider on the track at a time during timed laps, with everyone starting with one foot on the ground (no track stands).  Start and finish lines will be marked.  Timing will be run by stopwatches by the coaches from Deeside Thistle.  We will have a number of first aiders on-site should anyone need attention.

Timings:

17:00 Track closed to public for marking out

17:30 Sign on opens (all riders MUST be signed on by a parent/guardian who must also remain on-site at all times)

17:30 - 18:00 Practice, under control of marshals

18:00 Race 1 (all riders)

18:30 (approx) Race 2 (all riders)

19:00 Prizegiving

Rules and guidance:

• All bikes must be in fully-working order, with at least a rear brake (bikes may  be checked by our helpers)
• Bar end plugs must be fitted, or else handlebar grips fully covering the bar ends muct be intact.  Tape covering the bar ends is not sufficient.
• BMX, MTB or dirt jump bikes are all fine to be ridden, but must have a working rear brake as a minimum, and must be solely under the power of the rider - no ebikes.
• Helmets must be worn by all riders - we recommend full-face helmets for racing
• Gloves, knee and elbow pads are recommended, but not mandatory

Notes.

1. Riders do not need to be members of British Cycling or any cycling club to take part.
