The 2016 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup travels to Papendal for stop three of five with four Great Britain Cycling Team athletes set to race.
Defending world cup champion Liam Phillips, British champion Tre Whyte, Kyle Evans and Quillan Isidore will be in action at the National Sports Centre from 7-8 May.
Phillips won a fourth successive Manchester UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in April with Evans completing the one-two on a super evening for the Great Britain Cycling Team.
Team
Phillips’ victory in Manchester came after the 27-year-old chose to miss the opening Santiago del Estero round.
The 2013 world champ finished third on the course in 2014 but was forced off the track in 2015 as went out in the quarter-finals.
Evans picked up his first podium finish in the world cup in Manchester but like Phillips, also exited in the quarter-finals in the Netherlands last year. The 22-year-old reached the same stage at the opening round in Santiago, putting him third overall in the standings.
A tough motos draw for Quillan Isidore in Manchester saw his weekend end in the motos but the wide and long course should suit the 21-year-old’s powerful style.
Tre Whyte missed out in the quarter-finals in Manchester. He was forced to withdraw from the competition in 2015 after an injury sustained while training at the National Sports Centre ahead of the event.
Ranked in the top 16, Phillips and Evans will take part in Saturday's time trial superfinal and are automatically qualified for Sunday's racing.
Whyte and Isidore will race in qualifying on Saturday to book a place in Sunday's event.
Venue
Papendal welcomes the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup for a sixth time. Wide and long, the National Sports Centre track offers plenty of opportunity to overtake and is known for being open to the elements with strong winds and heavy rain challenging riders in recent editions.
