Great Britain Cycling Team’s Bethany Shriever won junior women’s time trial silver at the UCI BMX World Championships in Medellin, Colombia.
The 17-year-old delivered two excellent laps on the Mariana Pajon BMX Track on Saturday night to finish on the podium.
“Today was a great experience,” Shriever said.
“I had a few strong laps, my final lap was not my best but to still come away with a silver is just amazing.
“I’m grateful for everyone’s support.”

Shriever set a time of 43.705 seconds in qualifying, moving in to the superfinal in second as the top eight progressed.
Dutch rider Merel Smulders was the only rider to complete the lap faster than Shriever and the duo fought out a close battle in the superfinal.
Shriever set a time of 44.733 seconds with Smulders edging the contest with a lap of 44.494 seconds to take the rainbow jersey.

Elite men
Liam Phillips was sixth in the elite men’s superfinal having only just made the cut-off by qualifying in 16th, stopping the clock in 38.019 seconds. Kyle Evans was 32nd..
An improved lap of 37.236 seconds saw the 2013 world champion set the early pace but it would be Dutch rider Niek Kimmann who claimed gold in 36.858 seconds, ahead of Sam Willoughby and Maris Strombergs. Less than 0.5 seconds separated the top six.

“I made it really hard work for myself,” Phillips said.
“My first lap was certainly one that I’m not that proud of, I made a lot of mistakes. In the superfinal it was case of putting a good, clean lap together and I actually felt the lap was quite good.”
“Time trials are a funny one - I finished second, fourth, fifth and sixth at the last four worlds so it looks like I could be in and around that bunch again this time around (in the racing).
Sunday sees Philllips, Shriever and Evans in action in the supercross racing as world champions will be crowned in Medellin.
