British Cycling has announced the squad of 16 Great Britain Cycling Team riders who will contest round two of the 2016/17 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup series taking place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, from 11-13 November 2016.
Elinor Barker, who won an Olympic gold medal in the team pursuit in Rio, will compete in the individual events in Apeldoorn whilst Katy Marchant, winner of the bronze Olympic medal in the sprint, returns from the Japan Keirin School where she has recently been based.
Head coach Iain Dyer said: “We saw some very promising results from the developing riders at the UEC European Track Championships at the weekend, and I was pleased to see so many of them on the podium at that level.
“The UCI Track World Cup starts in Glasgow next week and from there seven of the riders - Ollie Wood, Mark Stewart, Emily Kay, Emily Nelson, Jack Carlin, Joe Truman and Ryan Owens - will head straight on to Apeldoorn. This back-to-back racing gives them a great experience physically speaking but also in terms of their pre-race preparations and the need to be organised.
“I’m pleased to see Elinor back in action at a world cup and she will be focusing on individual events in Apeldoorn as there is no team pursuit in the programme. Similarly, I’m looking forward to seeing Katy Marchant return to the squad having spent some time in Japan.”
