British Cycling has today confirmed the six riders who will represent the Great Britain Cycling Team at the 2017 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Montichiari, Italy from 23-27 August.

Lauren Bate and Georgia Hilleard are selected for the women’s sprint competitions. Bate will be aiming to build on an excellent 12 months which has seen her win junior team sprint bronze at last year’s European Championships, and pick up her first senior British title in the team sprint. Hilleard is also in good form after winning the keirin and the individual sprint at the recent Cottbus Sprint Cup.

There will be four riders in action in the men’s sprint events with European junior bronze medallists,  Hamish Turnbull and Lewis Stewart, selected alongside Ali Fielding and Caleb Hill, who make their world championships debut. 

Great Britain Cycling Team head coach, Iain Dyer, said:

“The junior track world championships are a great opportunity for the riders selected to get some racing experience against some of the best juniors in the world.

“We are confident that the riders we have selected have the ability to be competitive and will benefit from the opportunity of representing the Great Britain Cycling Team at major championships.”
