British Cycling has today announced the seven riders who will represent the Great Britain Cycling Team in the BMX Freestyle Park event at the 2019 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Chengdu, China.
Ben Wallace and James Jones – who finished 5th and 6th respectively in last year’s event, will once again compete in Great Britain colours, while Alex Coleborn will be hoping to go one step better than his silver medal at the 2017 championships. Declan Brooks and Jack Clark complete the men’s team.
Charlotte Worthington and Emma Finnegan will contest the women’s event following a string of encouraging performances in 2019, including seventh place for Worthington in the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup event in Montpellier.
British Cycling BMX Freestyle Park Co-ordinator, Rich King, said:
“We’ve been really pleased with the squad’s performances since last year’s world championships, when our BMX Freestyle Park riders represented the Great Britain Cycling Team for the first time. With less than 12 months to go until the Tokyo Olympic Games it’s incredibly important that the team continue to drive each other forwards and keep pushing for podium places in the final qualifying events.”
The championships will take place from 6-10 November 2019.
