British Cycling Olympic Performance Programmes: Join the team
Applications to join the British Cycling Olympic Performance Programmes have now closed, with the squad for the 2013/14 funding year announced. Athletes will have the opportunity to apply to join Performance Programmes in summer 2014.
British Cycling, home to Britain's most successful Olympic sport and some of the UK's most widely recognised sporting heroes - including Mark Cavendish, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas, Becky James and Liam Phillips - has opened applications to join the prestigious British Cycling Olympic Performance Programmes.
Overseen by Sir Dave Brailsford, British Cycling's Head of Performance has transformed Britain's Olympic cycling record, turning the sport into a success story and bringing home 26 medals from London 2012 and Beijing 2008, eight of which gold at each Games.
Every year applications open to join the squad at all levels and all Olympic disciplines, funded by The National Lottery and Exchequer through UK Sport, who have the express aim of maximising the performance of Olympic athletes on the World Stage.
Investment is targeted where it has the greatest chance of succeeding using a ‘no compromise' philosophy which targets investment at those most likely to deliver medals at Olympic and Paralympic level.
British Cycling currently receives the most funding of all Olympic and Paralympic sports, reflective of its performance in the previous Olympic cycle.
