Anna's Profile
Anna began her athletic career as a skier, becoming a junior slalom champion at the age of 15. However, after breaking her leg in 2015, she turned to cycling as part of her recovery. Henderson quickly developed a passion for the sport and entered a local competition. This marked the discovery of a new talent and the start of her journey in the sport.
Anna has had an impressive cycling career, marked by notable achievements across various national and international competitions. In 2018, she secured the top spot in the National Criterium Championships and claimed victories in the Tour Series at Aberystwyth and Stevenage, showcasing her prowess in criterium racing.
The following year, Anna continued to excel, dominating the National Under-23 Road Championships with first place finishes in both the road race and time-trial. She also performed well in the Tour Series, winning races in Durham and Brooklands. Her stellar year was highlighted by a second place finish in the road race at the National Road Championships and a third place in the team relay at the UCI Road World Championships.
In 2021, Anna's success extended to both the road and track. She won the time-trial at the National Road Championships and the Derny at the National Track Championships. Additionally, she claimed overall victory at the Kreiz Breizh Elites Dames, winning both Stages one and two. Her strong performances continued with top-ten finishes in Dwars door het Hageland WE, Le Samyn, the Healthy Ageing Tour, and the GP de Plouay.
Anna's momentum carried into 2022, where she won the Prologue at the Grand Prix Elsy Jacobs. She also excelled at the RideLondon Classique, taking first place in both the Mountains Classification and the British Rider Classification. At the Brimingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, she earned a silver medal in the time-trial, as well as a third in the road race at the National Road Championships. She also achieved a seventh-place finish in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
In 2023, Anna continued to demonstrate her versatility and skill. She was part of the team that won Stage one (TTT) at La Vuelta Femenina, holding the leader's jersey after the first stage. At the UEC European Road Championships, she finished second in the time-trial and eighth in the road race, further solidifying her reputation as a formidable competitor in both individual and team events.
As Henderson gears up for her Olympic debut in Paris, she has enjoyed a successful period on home soil so far in 2024, winning the National time trial championship in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and coming second overall at the Tour of Britain Women. She will take on both the time trial and the road race in Paris, with the goal of achieving success both individually and as part of the GB squad.
