Danni's Profile
Road and track cyclist Dannielle Khan makes her Paralympic debut this summer in Paris as tandem pilot to visually impaired para-cyclist Lizzi Jordan. Following a stellar start to the year in which the pair have achieved three world titles on the track, hopes are high that they can achieve great results in France.
Born in Solihull in the West Midlands, Khan’s sporting career began with short track speed skating, before she began cycling as part of her off-season conditioning. She showed potential in the sport and was invited to join British Cycling’s Olympic Development Programme in 2012.
In August 2013, Khan represented Great Britain at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in Glasgow, achieving two golds in the 500m time-trial and sprint events, and a silver in the keirin. It marked her out as a future track star, and in January 2016 Khan was announced as a member of Team Breeze, British Cycling’s women's development squad, where she began to develop her road racing. In October of that year, Khan competed in the team pursuit at the U23 European Track Championships, securing a bronze medal.
Khan has gone on to develop her riding both on the track and on the road, selected as part of several road teams both domestically and in Europe, including a year at Lotlo Soudal in 2019, and most recently the Saint Piran WRT team in 2023.
Khan rode in the UCI Track Champions League event in 2023, around the same time as she was invited to partner with Jordan. The pair rode together for the first time in November of that year, and quickly built a strong partnership.
This Paralympic year got off to a dream start for Jordan and Khan as they secured an incredible triple gold at the UCI Para-Track World Championships, winning the individual pursuit, 1km time-trial (kilo) and sprint. As they both embark on their debut Paralympic Games, the duo will be high on confidence and aiming to continue their dominance in Paris, marking their fledgling partnership with Paralympic success on both the track - in the individual pursuit and kilo - and on the road, where they will ride the time-trial and road race.
